STEVEN L. MCSHANE is Professor of Management in the Graduate School of Management at the University of Western Australia, where he receives high teaching ratings from students in Perth, Singapore, and other cities where UWA offers its programs. He is also an Honourary Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in Malaysia and previously taught in the business faculties at Simon Fraser University and Queen’s University in Canada. He is a past president of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada. Steve earned his PhD from Michigan State University, a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto, and an undergraduate degree from Queen’s University in Canada.

Steve has conducted executive seminars with Nokia throughout Asia, the Australian Healthcare Association, Wesfarmers Group, Peters Brownes Group, ALCOA World Alumina Australia, Vasse Felix Wines, Clough Engineering, Healthcare Association of Western Australia, the Conference Board of Canada, and many other organisations. He is also a popular visiting speaker, having given four-dozen talks to faculty and students in almost a dozen countries over the past three years.

Along with co-authoring Organisational Behaviour on the Pacific Rim, Steve co-authors (with Mary Ann von Glinow at Florida International University) Organizational Behavior: Emerging Realities for the Workplace Revolution, 3rd edition (2005) and Organizational Behavior: Essentials (2007). He is also the sole author of Canadian Organizational Behaviour, 6th edition (2006). Steve has also published several dozen articles and conference papers on diverse topics, including knowledge management, the socialisation of new employees, gender bias in job evaluation, wrongful dismissal, media bias in business magazines, and labour union participation. Aside from teaching and writing, Steve enjoys spending his leisure time swimming, body board surfing, canoeing, skiing and travelling with his wife and two daughters.

TONY TRAVAGLIONE is Professor of Management and Sub Dean Corporate Relations at Charles Sturt University. Over the course of his career, Tony has held a number of senior leadership roles including Professor and Dean of the Adelaide Graduate School of Business and Professor and Head of the Newcastle Graduate School of Business. He has also held the position of Visiting Professor at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Tony holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Western Australia. He is recognised internationally as an expert in the area of leadership. He has developed numerous leadership development programs for both public and private sector organisations. He is skilled in the delivery and feedback of a number of assessment instruments, ranging from staff attitudes to leadership style inventories. Tony is currently working on an Australian Research Council (ARC) grant in collaboration with Main Roads Western Australia on developing a new approach to values driven leadership.

Tony has been active in the area of consulting in Australia and overseas. In Australia, his clients have included the ANZ Bank, QANTAS, Main Roads Western Australia, Westrail, Hunter Area Health and Centrelink. His consultancy work has appeared in prestigious and rigorously refereed international journals including the International Journal of Human Resource Management (UK), Personnel Review (UK), Journal of Managerial Psychology (USA), Journal of Strategic Change (UK) and the Journal of Business and Leadership (USA).

Tony has always enjoyed his spare time by the beach and walking. In more recent years he developed a keen interest in cooking traditional Italian and Greek dishes.
