About the Authors
Rodney Thom was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and educated at Queen's University Belfast and the London School of Economics. He was appointed as a lecturer in economics at the New University of Ulster in 1969 and subsequently moved to University College Dublin where he holds the post of Jean Monnet Professor of European Economics and is head of the University College Dublin School of Economics.
His major teaching and research interests have focused on applied econometrics and the economics of European integration. He has published in many economics journals including The Review of Economics and Statistics, The European Economics Review, Urban Economics and The Scottish Journal of Economics.
Moore McDowell teaches Economics along side Rodney Thom at University College Dublin. As well as being a leading figure in the field of Economics he is also a frequent contributor to the Irish Independent newspaper.
