  2. Understand the importance and the requirements of citizenship in a democracy.
  3. Identify the type of government that is in place in the United States and some of its major characteristics.
  4. Define and discuss the varying theories of political power and understand how each of those theories relates to modern American government.
  5. Explain liberal democracy and its significance in American government.
  6. Appreciate the impact of diversity, age, and social class on civic engagement.
