Having read the chapter, students should be able to:

  1. Explain how the Bill of Rights has been applied to the actions of state governments.
  2. List the rights granted under the First Amendment and summarize the limitations on each of those rights.
  3. Discuss how jurisprudence relating to the Second Amendment has recently changed.
  4. Outline the procedural protections granted to the accused under the Bill of Rights.
  5. Understand the implicit nature of the constitutional right to privacy and what private actions are protected under that right.
