Web Activity 1

Is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) going too far or not far enough with environmental laws? This is discussed by The Heartland Institute in its research on climate change. Go to www.heartland.org and click the "Environment" tab. Read one of the many articles about climate change. Do the authors of the studies believe that appropriate economic decisions have been made in the EPA about climate change? What errors do these authors believe the EPA has made in the study?

Web Activity 2

To learn about pollution in your area, log on to www.scorecard.org and enter your zip code. What is the most common pollutant for your area? Does this rank higher or lower than the national average? If the pollution problem is reduced in your area, how will employment in your area be affected? Is the socially optimal level of output identified by this organization higher or lower than current output levels? Explain.

Web Activity 3

Log on to www.epa.gov and search "economic incentives for pollution control" to read a summary of the EPA's report on "Economic Incentives for Pollution Control." Have the incentives been successful in changing behavior?
