Hurt is Professor of Accounting in the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, where he teaches Accounting Information Systems, Forensic Accounting, Controllership, and Cost Accounting. Dr. Hurt received his Ph.D. in Management with a concentration in information science from Claremont Graduate University. He also holds an M.S. in Business Administration (concentration in business education) from Cal Poly Pomona and a B.S. in Business Administration (concentration in accounting) from Southeast Missouri State University.

Hallmarks of Dr. Hurt's classroom approach include utilizing active learning, developing students' critical thinking skills, and incorporating information technology to enhance the teaching/learning environment. Dr. Hurt's courses are also competency based to help students focus their efforts on important skills.

Dr. Hurt is published in the Journal of Accounting Case Research, Strategic Finance, NACADA Journal, and Journal of Education for Business. Bob is active with the Institute of Management Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the National Academic Advising Association.
