Declaration of Independence

Parallelism is the use of a series of words, phrases, or sentences that have similar grammatical structures. It emphasizes the relationship between ideas. Thomas Jefferson uses parallelism throughout the Declaration of Independence, for example, by beginning a series of sentences with the word for:

“For cutting off our trade with all parts of the world; For imposing taxes on us without our consent; For depriving us, in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury;”

Think of a program or organization you support in your community. For example, a recycling program, an animal shelter, or a local charity. Write five sentences in support of this organization and its goals, using parallelism.
