Reading-Writing Connection Activities

1.

from Walden

Thoreau’s strong kinship with nature was enhanced by his keen observations of his surroundings. The next time you are outdoors, make a point of focusing on one element of nature that you find interesting. Then write your observations describing this element including physical details and how it makes you feel. To make your descriptions more vivid, draw a picture or find an image that represents what you observed.
