The Devil and Tom Walker

This short story is based on the German legend of Faust. Faust is a man who sells his soul to the devil to gain knowledge, and then later regrets the deal before suffering the bleak consequences. Many works of literature and music have been based on this legend. Write your own version of the Faust story. The character and what he or she wants can veer from the original story, but the overall chain of events should remain the same.
