And Ain’t I a Woman?

In this famous speech supporting women’s rights, Sojourner Truth recites commonly accepted arguments against women’s rights and then counters each one by referencing personal experiences, logic, and common sense. Write a letter to Truth in which you respond to the ideas and arguments that she presents. For example, you might mention specific rhetorical techniques that she uses and evaluate them, telling her why you think they are particularly effective in influencing her audience. Or you might evaluate her tone and tell her why it works with her audience and why it is still effective today. Be sure to include your personal feelings and opinions about the content of her speech.
