Stanzas from a Black Epic

In the title of this article, the writer refers to the Great Migration as “A Black Epic.” An epic celebrates the adventures and achievements of heroic figures of legend, history, or religion. In classic epics, like the Odyssey and the Iliad, the heroic characters endure many trials before they reach their goal. Epic plots typically involve long time periods, distant journeys, and life-and-death struggles between good and evil. Using the information in the article and the Internet, write a list of the trials that African Americans went through that make the story of the Great Migration an epic.
