Health finder

“Health Finder” was developed in 1997 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services along with other Federal agencies. Its core function is to be the publics’ main resource for finding government and nonprofit health and human services information on the web.

NUTRITION.GOV

“Nutrition.gov”, a government resource, has consolidated all the federal sites and information centers on nutrition so that they are easily accessible to the public. Its overall goal is to provide accurate counseling on healthy eating, physical activity, and food safety.

Club Drugs

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) created this site to educate the public on the effects of “club drugs” on the human body. Part of the effort is to inform parents on what signs to look for and how to approach their children. Slides that illustrate the consequence of Ecstasy on the brain are also available here.

Drug Abuse

This government site was created to support the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Established in 1974, NIDA’s purpose is to study drug abuse and addiction in an effort to “tracking emerging drug use trends, understanding how drugs work in the brain, and develop and test new drug treatments and prevention approaches.” A verity of links and facts on these issues are also available.

College Drinking Prevention

Created in 1998 by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the “College Drinking Prevention” site addesses the specific problem of campus drinking. Its three primary goals are to provide research-based information on the effects of youth drinking, strategies that universities can implement to “reverse the culture of drinking on campus” and recommend new areas “for future research on preventing hazardous college student drinking”.
