atypical sexual behavior  Consensual sexual activity that is not statistically typical of American sexual behavior.
autoerotic asphyxia  A form of sexual masochism linking strangulation with masturbation.
aversive conditioning  A method used to attempt to treat paraphilias.
bondage and discipline (B&D)  Sexual activities in which one person is bound while another simulates or engages in light or moderate "discipline" activities, such as spanking and whipping.
coprophilia  A paraphilia in which a person derives sexual pleasure from contact with feces.
cross-dressing or drag  Wearing the clothing of a member of the other sex.
domination and submission (D/S)  Sexual activities involving the consensual acting out of fantasy scenes in which one person dominates and the other submits.
dominatrix  In bondage and discipline, a woman who specializes in "disciplining" a submissive partner.
drag queen  A gay man who cross-dresses to entertain.
exhibitionism  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to expose the genitals to another, nonconsenting person.
fetishism  A paraphilia in which a person is sexually attracted to certain objects.
frotteurism  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to touch or rub against a nonconsenting person for the purpose of sexual arousal.
klismophilia  A paraphilia in which a person derives sexual pleasure from receiving enemas.
necrophilia  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to engage in sexual activities with a corpse.
nymphomania  A pseudoscientific term referring to "abnormal" or "excessive" sexual desire in a woman.
paraphilia  A mental disorder characterized by recurrent, intense, sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors generally lasting at least 6 months and involving nonhuman objects, the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one's partner, or children or other nonconsenting persons.
paraphiliac  A person who has a paraphilia.
partialism  A paraphilia in which a person is sexually attracted to a specific body part.
pedophile  A person who is sexually attracted to children.
pedophilia  A paraphilia characterized by recurrent, intense urges to engage in sexual activities with a prepubescent child.
psychodynamic therapy  A method used to attempt to treat paraphilias.
relapse prevention  A method used to attempt to treat paraphilias.
sadomasochism (S&M)  A popular, nonclinical term for domination and submission.
satyriasis  A pseudoscientific term referring to "abnormal" or "uncontrollable" sexual desire in a man.
sexual masochism  A paraphilia characterized by recurrent, intense urges to engage in real (not fantasy) sexual acts in which the person is humiliated, harmed, or otherwise made to suffer.
sexual sadism  A paraphilia characterized by recurrent, intense urges to engage in real (not fantasy) sexual acts in which the person inflicts physical or psychological harm on a victim.
telephone scatologia  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to make obscene telephone calls.
transvestic fetishism  A psychological disorder in which heterosexual men who, over a period of at least 6 months, act upon intense, usually distressful, sexual urges and fantasies involving the wearing of women's clothes.
transvestism  A clinical term referring to the wearing of clothing of the other sex, usually for sexual arousal.
urophilia  A paraphilia in which a person derives sexual pleasure from contact with urine.
voyeurism  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to view nonconsenting others while they are engaged in sexual activities.
zoophilia  A paraphilia involving recurrent, intense urges to engage in sexual activities with animals.
