Complete any necessary research and write an essay on the following subjects.

1		Develop a directorial concept for A Midsummer Night's Dream and explain why you chose that concept. Include place and time of the play, possible costuming, props, music, and character description. How will you portray the supernatural characters?
2		Imagine that you can cast anyone (past or present) in your production of Midsummer. Now cast the play and justify each of your decisions based on your concept of the play.
3		What was happening in the world that caused Saxe-Meiningen, Antoine, Stanislavsky and others to begin "directing" at about the same time?
4		How many versions of Hamlet can there be? View at least three productions of Hamlet (i.e. Branagh, Zefferelli, Olivier) and compare them with each other in terms of concept, style, pace, cutting, characters, etc.
