Application

Chapter Overview

The skill of application requires you not only to understand a concept from a passage, but also to transfer this understanding to a different situation. The application question will provide a new idea or situation, and you must transfer what you have learned to this new information.

The skill of application requires two steps:
  • understanding the main idea or supporting details of a passage
  • applying this information to a new context or setting
