Key to student success is being an active learner. Active learners read the textbook (and/or listen) and immediately do exercises and problems to reinforce concepts. Checking the answers to exercises and problems just completed provides feedback about potential weaknesses in understanding. Any weaknesses must be addressed by re-reading the material, seeking help from an instructor, and/or doing additional exercises and problems located at the end of the chapter and on the online Student Success Centre. Applying your newly acquired knowledge ensures retention. Decision making is the result of applying knowledge. To make decisions, you must learn to ask and answer core questions.
