Adding Foreign-Language Characters
If the vocabulary database that you are editing includes a foreign language
(French, German, Latin, Spanish), you can add foreign language characters into the
words and clues. You can use one of the two methods shown below to add the
foreign language characters. You must be editing an existing word or adding a new
word for the language characters to display.
Adding foreign-language characters using the palette:
- To display the foreign language characters palette, choose Language Characters from the Edit menu.
- Ensure that your insertion point is located where you want the foreign language
character to be inserted. Double-click the character.
Adding foreign language characters using shortcut keys:
The keyboard shortcut for any foreign-language character consists of two sets
of keystrokes—one for the diacritical mark and one for the letter.
- Enter the keystroke for the diacritical mark. For example, to create an umlaut
press Ctrl + Shift + :.
- Enter the keystroke for the letter.
NOTE: To view the keystrokes for the foreign-language characters, display the
foreign language palette as described above.
