Zoology Lab CorrelationsExercise 3: Aspects of Cell Function
This exercise includes activities that demonstrate passive and active transport mechanisms, aerobic cellular respiration, and mitosis. The cellular respiration exercise is structured as an open-ended investigation in which students use skills learned in the scientific method portion of exercise 1. Students formulate their own hypotheses, design a test of their hypotheses, and analyze and present their data.
Exercise 4: Genetics
Exercise 4 reinforces concepts of classical Mendelian genetics. Students perform monohybrid, dihibrid, and X-linked crosses using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. The Chi-square test is introduced as a tool used in data analysis.
