  • Write a paragraph explaining your vision of the future of email. (section 1.2, problem 3)
  • What user names would you suggest for the following famous Appalachian Trail hikers:
    Warren Doyle, David Horton, Peter Palmer, Sheila Kennon, Peter Solomon, Dan Bruce, Susan Jones, Mark Holmes? (section 1.3, problem 7)
  • On your computer system, what is the default password a new user is assigned? How long do you have before it must be changed? How frequently must the password be changed? Are there any rules you must follow in choosing a password? (section 1.3, problem 11)
  • This exercise should make you aware of the number of countries currently using email. Put together a list of all top-level country code domain names, not just those listed in the text. Are they all two letters long? How many different countries could you locate? (section 1.3, problem 12)
