The old-fashioned CRT monitors – the heavy, fragile, TV-type monitors - are going the way of the dinosaur. A few years from now they’ll be as rare as black-and-white TV sets.

There are two types of flat screen displays: LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasma screens. LCD screens make an image by sending electricity to a crystalline liquid trapped between two sheets of plastic or glass. A plasma screen, on the other hand, consists of a jelly-like substance between two sheets of plastic or glass.
