  7. Discuss emergency medical care of the infant and child trauma patient.
  8. Summarize the signs and symptoms of possible child abuse and neglect.
  9. Describe the medical-legal responsibilities in suspected child abuse.
  10. Recognize the need for an Emergency Medical Responder debriefing following a difficult infant or child transport.
Attitude Objectives
  1. Attend to the feelings of the family when dealing with an ill or injured infant or child.
  2. Understand the provider’s own emotional response to caring for infants or children.
  3. Demonstrate a caring attitude toward infants and children with illness or injury who require Emergency Medical Services.
  4. Place the interests of the infant or child with an illness or injury as the foremost consideration when making patient care decisions.
  5. Communicate with empathy to infants and children with an illness or injury, as well as with family members and friends of the patient.
