Handling Medical Emergencies

As a healthcare professional, you will be called for a variety of emergencies. You will see some types of calls over and over again. Other types of calls will occur only once in your career. Just when you think you have "seen it all," something new will happen. This is especially true with patients who have a medical complaint. Emergency care professionals respond to calls involving medical complaints every day. A thorough patient assessment and careful history obtained from the patient, family, or others will often help you identify the underlying cause of the patient's complaint. Regardless of the cause, emergency care of the patient with a medical complaint focuses on the patient's airway, breathing, and circulation.
