KAREN JUDSON, B.S.
Karen Judson taught biology laboratories at Black Hills University in Spearfish,
SD., high school sciences in Idaho, and grades one and three in Washington
state. She is also a former laboratory and x-ray technician and completed two
years of nurses’ training while completing a degree in Biology. Karen has worked as a science writer since 1983. She has written relationship,
family, and psychology articles for a variety of magazines, including a
series of high school classroom magazines, making a total of 500 articles published.
Karen writes science and relationship books for teenagers. (Enslow and
Marshall Cavendish publishers.) Her book for teens, Sports & Money: It’s a Sell
Out made the New York City Public Library’s list of best books for teens in
1995. Her book for teens, Genetic Engineering, was chosen by the National
Science Teachers’ Association as one of the best science books for children in
2001 and was featured on the NSTA Web site. CARLENE HARRISON, Ed.D., C.M.A.
Carlene is currently Chair of Allied Health Programs at International College in
Naples, Florida. Her undergraduate and masters degrees are from the University
of Colorado in Denver and her doctorate is from Argosy University in Sarasota,
Florida. Before becoming a full time educator, Dr. Harrison spent almost twenty
years managing individual and group medical practices throughout the country.
She also served as adjunct faculty at both the University of Phoenix in Denver
and Barry University in Ft. Myers, Florida. In her current position, she manages and teaches in the associate degree in
medical assisting program and the bachelor’s degree in health administration,
along with the MBA program at the College. Additionally, in conjunction with
Nova Southeastern University, she has responsibility for a unique educational
program at International College providing students with the prerequisites necessary
for graduate programs for physician assistants, occupational therapists,
physical therapists and pharmacists. SHARON HICKS, CMA
Sharon has been in healthcare since 1975, employed as a medical assistant
for 15 years in both administrative and clinical area. She served as a medical
assistant instructor for Iowa Central Community College, in Fort Dodge, Iowa,
Hamilton College in Des Moines, Iowa, and Allied Health Department Head
for National Education Centers in Des Moines, Iowa. Her career has alsoincluded serving as provider relation representative and PPO liaison for
Principal Healthcare/Principal Financial Group and network manager for HCF,
Inc., the PHO for the Iowa Health System. Sharon is currently a Senior Network Account Manager for United-
Healthcare, in Des Moines, Iowa, where she negotiates, implements, and
maintains contracts with hospitals and physicians in the Heartland market.
She continues to work as a CMA, volunteering monthly at a neighborhood
free clinic. |
