SOCIETY FOR ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING (IE 2–1) AND ONLINE INTERNET EXERCISE 2–1

The objective of this Internet exercise is to learn more about the Society for Organizational Learning (SOL). Do the following:

  1. Go to the SOL homepage—http://www.solonline.org


  2. Click and read "About" SOL then return to the homepage, click back.


  3. Click any of the subsites, and read the information (your instructor may require a copy).


  4. Questions: (1) What is SOL? (2) Which subsite did you visit? (3) What did you learn at the subsite? (Your instructor may ask you to type and print out your answer.)

SEARCH ENGINES (IE 2–2) AND ONLINE INTERNET EXERCISE 2–2

The objective of this Internet exercise is to try three different search engines to develop your search skills. It is a continuation of IE 1–1. Do the following:

  1. Go to the Search Engine Watch website at—http://searchenginewatch.com/.


  2. Click "Search Engine Listings."


  3. Read about the different search engines (your instructor may ask you to copy them).


  4. Select a concept from Chapters 1 or 2, such as a key term, that you want to learn more about.


  5. Using at least three different search engines, type in your concept and review the resources available to you (your instructor may ask you to print the resources.)


  6. Write a comparison of the three different search engines; be sure to state which ones you used and what you did and did not like about each. Search the best search engine, and state why it was the best for your search (your instructor may ask you to type out your report).
