Many people - including job hunters, employees, managers, investors, and government regulators - have a keen interest in how specific organizations are performing. Here is a chance to evaluate the effectiveness of an organization with a few mouse clicks. Because it has free online access to every article ever published by Fast Company magazine, go to http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/archives/1998 and find a recent article that deals with an organization that interests you. (Note: if you subscribe to Business Week, Fortune, or The Wall Street Journal, you can gain privileged access to their full-text articles by entering your subscriber information). Read the online article you selected and use the four organizational effectiveness criteria in Figure 17–4 to evaluate its effectiveness. You may want to do a broader Internet search for additional information on your target organization.
