Bon voyage! Level 3

Chapter 6: Passages de la vie

WebQuest

Activity Worksheet (101.0K)

Notes
  • In this WebQuest activity your students will be learning about wedding ceremonies of various religions in France.

  • You may wish to brainstorm with students keywords in French that will help direct them to French-language Web sites to complete this WebQuest.

  • Remind students to apply their understanding of cognates and context to determine the meanings of the unfamiliar words they will encounter as they work through this activity. Encourage them to avoid trying to understand every word in the articles they read and the videos they watch. Instead, suggest that they use what they already know about weddings to make educated guesses about the general meaning of what they read and hear.

  • You may wish to have students work with other students to share information from the Feuille de travail in order to maximize the opportunity to learn new vocabulary.

Expansion

  • Have students search the Internet for photos of both civil and religious wedding ceremonies in France and print them out. Have them prepare and present a summary in French of a wedding. You may wish to remind them to use relative pronouns in their descriptions of the people and events in the photos.

  • Have students talk with a partner about weddings they have attended. Have them describe how these would be different in France.
