The Aims of Argument: A Text and Reader, 4/e
Timothy Crusius, Southern Methodist University
Carolyn Channell, Southern Methodist University

Overview

The Aims of Argument is a process-oriented introduction to argumentation with unique coverage of the aims, or purposes, of argument – to inquire, to convince, to persuade, and to mediate. In contrast to other approaches, the focus on aims provides rhetorical context that helps students write, as well as read, arguments. The Aims of Argument is available with or without an anthology of additional readings, as the Brief Guide excludes parts 3 and 4 of the larger version.
