The way individuals handle conflict may have a lot to do with their personality in addition to their cultural background. Go to http://www.geocities.com/ptypes, and read about the Myers-Briggs personality types. Also note the link for the "passive aggressive" personality type, which some scholars note is related to behavior that provokes conflict.
