In the section on "The Need for Power," Larsen and Buss cite research that shows that men who have high levels of nPow also perform a wide variety of impulsive and aggressive behaviors; however, there is no such correlation of maladaptive behavior in women who also have high levels of nPow. Why do you think there is this difference between the sexes? Use examples from your textbook to support your reasoning.

Toward the end of Chapter 11, the authors indicate that there needs to be additional research done on the characteristics that make someone adept at empathetic understanding. What characteristics do you think these might be? Which one might you want to focus on, and how might you go about studying it? In order to draft a simple research proposal for studying empathetic understanding, draw from what you have learned in previous chapters as well as this one; consider what your guiding set of questions will be; and then, discuss what you your goals, parameters, and processes will be, so that you can test your hypothesis.
