In Chapter 3, Larsen and Buss inform us that some psychologists conceptualize personality traits as internal and causal, while other psychologists make no assumptions about causality, preferring instead to use trait terms simply to describe the enduring aspects of a person's behavior. What are some of the advantages to seeing personality traits as internal--or hidden--causes for one's behavior? Or, do you think it is better to view traits NOT as the causes but as the summaries of behaviors? Discuss your reasons for your opinion, using examples from your textbook for support.

Why or why not?
