You are to choose from the following questions, one (1) question to answer. As you make your decision, keep in mind you must be able to validate (support) your opinion.

You are to use the information we have discussed in class, i.e.: utilitarianism, ethical relativism, altruism, etc. Think back to the films we viewed. Can you use any of the ethical dilemmas exposed in "A Time to Kill" or "Wall Street" to analyze your answer?

Specificity is the KEY to a solid answer!

THINK – THINK – THINK !!!

1
If ethics and morals are culturally determined, how can we justify intervening in another country because of cultural practices we believe are unethical?
2
You are the captain of a rescue space craft whose mission is to get a supply of medicine to a U.S. space station on Mars. The twenty-five (25) residents on Mars are fighting a rapidly spreading disease that will be fatal to all without the medicine. About a quarter of the distance to the red plant, your crew informs you that you are using more fuel than expected. The fuel has been carefully calculated to the weight of the craft and its crew. While inspecting the ship to find the problem, a stowaway is found – the girlfriend of one (1) of the crew. The craft will not make it to Mars with the additional weight and no equipment, etc. can be jettisoned without also compromising the flight. As captain, what do you do?
3
If America is the "Land of the Free", why should laws against discrimination conflict with companies' rights to hire who they want?
