Read the article about Andrew Carnegie at http://www.clpgh.org/exhibit/carnegie.html. Mr. Carnegie was one of the most notorious philanthropists in the 20th Century. At the time, he was one of the world's richest men, but before he died, have much of his fortunes away to charities, many of which still exist today. However, much of his fortune was made through exploiting his workers and making business deals that, in today's business world, would not be permitted.

After reading the article, make your own decisions about whether you think Andrew Carnegie was ultimately an egoist, an altruist, or both.
