After reading the chapter, reflecting, and participating in the suggested student activities, preservice teachers will be able to

a. plan and implement an effective lesson entry in which they establish set.

b. discuss ways in which they can increase variety in their instruction and plan lessons that do so.

c. discuss ways in which instructional time is lost and recognize ways to maximize instructional time.

d. use a variety of questions and questioning techniques within a lesson.

e. plan for and conduct instruction that is most likely to be clear to their learners.

f. demonstrate formal and informal ways of monitoring student progress within a lesson.

g. use feedback and reinforcement appropriately.
