The initial chapter in the book, "The Nature of Conflict," now presents the Wilmot-Hocker popular definition of conflict at the beginning of the text.
In Chapter 3, "Interests and Goals," the acronym "CRIP" has been changed to "TRIP"--making it easier for students to recall it.
The chapter on forgiveness, written by Gary Hawk, has been completely recast and is now entitled "Mending the Broken Branch: Forgiveness and Reconciliation." The revised version covers the values and limits of apologies and is more interpersonally grounded.
A completely new chapter, "Preventing Destructive Conflict" (Chapter 11), emphasizes the best ideas from the book, helping students look ahead in order to prevent conflicts.
