More People Leaving
Corporate America This video can be found on the Student DVD.Summary: A new trend has emerged among high power professionals as shown in the NBC
video on the Student DVD. Many younger professionals are leaving corporate
America and are going it alone. From Sparky's Hotdogs to massage therapy and
ethnic wallpaper, former corporate level managers are seeking new business
opportunities.
The aftermath of 9/11, the corporate ethics scandals, and the loss of trust
have given rise to a significant increase in new business startups. In fact, it is the
largest boom in this area in over six years. Even more troubling is that the brain
drain is occurring among the more valuable corporate human resources--that is
the departure of younger employees. Over one-third of new businesses are
formed by individuals under the age of 40; women are a larger share of this percentage
than ever before.Discussion Questions
