Career Values Assessment Quiz

Research tells us that your job satisfaction and performance are affected by the extent to which your personal values are consistent with your employer's organizational values. The purpose of this exercise is to determine what your work values are in order to help you asses what type of career and organizational culture best suit you.

Go to the following site: www.myplan.com and create a free account. After you have your username and password for the site, go back to the site homepage and log in. Click on the "Assessment" tab at the top of the page. Under the "Career Assessment Tests" list, click on the link for the free "Career Values Assessment". Read through the information provided about the assessment and click on the ""Start Test" button at the bottom of the section. Read through the instructions for "Step 1" and click on the "Proceed to Step 2" link at the bottom right side of the page. Read through the instructions for steps 2 and 3 and begin the assessment by dropping and dragging the "cards" as per the instructions.

When finished, click on the "Submit and View Report" link at the bottom right side of the page. Read through the information concerning the "Work Values Clusters" and review your ranking for each. This profile gives you a starting point in considering and assessing the organizational culture of potential employers. Click on the "Next Page" link at the bottom right side of the page. Choose a career group and specific career and click on the "Submit" button to see how your values profile aligns with the chosen career path. At the bottom of the "Career Comparison" table section, click on the "Next page" link to see a list of careers that best match your values profile. How does this list compare to what you expected? To your career plans?

Now that you know what type of culture best suits you, we would like you to assess the extent to which your current employer's culture is consistent with your ideal culture. Does your current job represent a good cultural fit? If no, discuss the inconsistencies. If you are not currently working, think of a past job or job you would like to obtain in the future.
