Entrepreneurship
David A. Kirby, University of Surrey, UK

Overview

The promotion of entrepreneurship has become, in recent years, one of the major priorities of most economies and is set to increase in importance in the 21st century. Entrepreneurship offers a conceptual outlook towards entrepreneurship and focuses on the process of developing entrepreneurship. In this text, the author draws on his extensive experience as an entrepreneurship researcher, educator, trainer and consultant, both in the U.K. and overseas, to develop entrepreneurship – in society, the economy, people and organizations. Throughout the text, the emphasis is on applying theory to practice. The reader will be asked to reflect on what has been learned and to relate it to the “real world”. In part this is intended to reinforce the learning, in part to encourage students to question, to develop an inquiring mind and to become more action oriented.
