BusinessWeek Activities

B2B Channels of Distribution

E-business has in many ways altered the traditional channels of distribution. The usual chain from manufacturer to wholesaler to distributor to retailer has changed dramatically as consumers begin to purchase more and more products online, find it easier to compare prices, and can contact manufacturers directly to purchase products.

Using the Internet, starting at BusinessWeek.com, locate an article about a retail company whose channels of distribution changed because of e-commerce. Analyze what the company did to make the help make the transition to the new channels of distribution successful. Write a one-page summary of your findings.

Then, create a diagram of the new channels of distribution that this company uses.
