Moving Day
Steve Sutherland is stressed. His Ottawa-based company, CE Composites and Ballistic Hockey, has received an order for 20,000 baseball bats from a big U.S. customer. This order will increase CE Composite's annual sales from $2 million to $7 million. However, the order exceeds their current production capacity. They had hoped to move into larger premises over Christmas but construction delays have left them still in their old plant in mid-February.

Sutherland's stress mounts as he deals with a cease and desist construction order from the City, and a visit from anxious executives of the US customer, who are very concerned about whether CE Composites can complete their order on time given the delay in increasing production capacity.

After further delays, the move takes place on a weekend in early March. Steve deals with last minute problems concerning moving trucks, a forklift, and getting the new production lines up and running. Finally, production starts in the new plant, and Steve feels more confident about the next visit from the customer to ensure that CE Composites can deliver their order.
