Goal: This activity is designed to get students in touch with more resources and statistics about planning and running effective meetings.

Instructions: Your task is to read the article "The Three Most Important Secrets of Successful Meetings" <www.openthis.com/secrets.htm> and compare it to the advice given in this chapter regarding effective meetings. Does this article provide any new insight? Are there other elements that have not been considered in this article or your book?

Exercise 2

Goal: This activity is designed to get students to think about the totality of the meeting planning process and the time and resources involved in planning a successful meeting.

Instructions: Your task is to use the website <www.meetings411.com> and plan a meeting in the southern U.S. for next March. You have to plan for travel for ten people from Los Angeles to the destination you choose. You must include airfare, hotel accommodations, and ground transportation for everyone. You have to stay under $9,000 for all expenses.
