Instructor's Resource CD-ROM
This resource CD contains the Instructor's Manual, the PowerPoints, and Test Bank for the text.

  • Lecture Notes:
Lecture Notes are provided for each of the 12 chapters of The Survey Research Handbook, as well as for the 3 appendices covering Focus Groups, Experimental Design, and Report Presentations. These notes, in Microsoft Word format, consist of a bulleted brief that outlines the chapter material from beginning to end in substantial detail.
Written by the authors of the book, the Lecture Notes are designed to assist both those instructors new to the book and/or course and those with thorough familiarity and extensive experience. These chapter briefs contain, within several pages, all the most important material presented in the entire chapter. Whether they are used in lecture or lecture/discussion classes with the PowerPoint programs or independently, they are effective guides to a complete, well-organized presentation.

  • PowerPoints:
The authors have created a well-designed lecture presentation that highlights the main topics and illustrates the concepts discussed in each chapter and appendix. Each program includes from 20 to 30 slides consisting of bullet charts, diagrams and graphic examples.
Both educational research and practical experience show that students learn more quickly and retain more information when they both hear and see the material. While the PowerPoint Programs are colorful and attractive, they adhere to that simple, direct teaching principle. Like every other aspect of The Survey Research Handbook, the PowerPoint presentations are characterized by brevity and clarity. Transitions are rapid and consistent, while animation is used only when it will enhance an understanding of what is to be presented.
To allow the instructor maximum flexibility, the PowerPoint Programs are designed so the transitions and animations that are included can very readily be removed. Color selection and contrast permit transparencies, as well as handouts for distribution to the class to be printed clearly in either black and white or gray scale.

  • Test Bank:
The revised and updated test bank contains 20 True-False and 40 Multiple Choice questions covering the important concepts and techniques in each chapter. Both types of test items are relatively brief, so that a large number of items for each chapter can be included and completed by students in the limited time available for testing. This results in a better measurement of the students' retention and understanding of the material.
The classroom-tested items in the test bank, including both True-False and Multiple choice items, cover each entire chapter in sequence. Thus, the material covered by either type of item includes that from the early, middle, and latter part of each chapter. To insure maximum ease and flexibility for the instructor, the test bank is contained in a Microsoft Word document. Consequently, instructors are free to add, delete, and modify items according to their own needs and preferences. A simple procedure for preparing a test is suggested in the preface to the test bank.
