Exercise 4.11

Complete this exercise offline and then either e-mail or hand the exercise in to your instructor.

Write a summary lead based on the following information, which is from a story in The Kentucky Post in northern Kentucky.
The worst part of flu season is yet to come.
Some medical experts had predicted that this year's flu season would be milder than normal.
Not so in northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, where the flu bug has bitten—hard.
In the past two weeks, record numbers of flu and flu-like cases have been reported by area doctors and hospitals.
And things may only get worse.
"It's here, but the worst is yet to come," said
Dr. Gilbert Schiff, a flu vaccine researcher at Children's Hospital.
Because of the increase in flu cases, attendance at many schools is well below average. Some schools have closed the past weeks as sick students and teachers suffered headaches, high fevers, vomiting and congestion.
Some hospitals are having trouble finding beds for the most seriously ill.
