Archeologists from the University of North Texas, which is in Denton, have been excavating Ray Roberts Lake, which was built as a water supply source for Dallas and Denton.
The lake is also designed for recreation, fishing and wildlife preservation.
The lake was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is north of Denton.
The archeologists are under the direction of Dr. Reid Ferring.
They have excavated Paleo-Indian artifacts that are believed to have been untouched since they were left by the ice age about 12,000 years ago.
On Thursday the carefully guarded site near Ray Roberts Lake will be unveiled by federal

Archeologists are calling the site the most significant find in Texas. It is believed to be the oldest, best-dated and best-preserved example of the ancient Clovis culture in the southern Plains, according to a statement released by the Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The prehistoric Clovis culture is known for its fluted stone projectile points. It was named for Clovis, N.M., where such artifacts were first found in 1932. The Clovis people are believed to be the first inhabitants of North America. They were centered primarily in the plateaus and tablelands of New Mexico, Arizona and West Texas.
