While there are wildfires in Florida, it's snowing in Washington. There were hundreds of accidents on snow-covered highways in Washington. Icy spots in Oregon caused accidents from Portland to Eugene.
The snowstorm swirled across the Northwest over the weekend.
Fourteen inches of snow fell in some areas. Other areas had 6 inches. The snowfall tapered off by Monday.
At least three people were killed in the weekend snowstorm. A hiker was still missing on
Monday. Two of the people were killed in Washington highway accidents. In British Columbia, several hikers got lost in heavy snow. One teenager died and another is missing and presumed dead.
A lot of school districts in western Washington have canceled classes for Monday because of slippery roads. As many as 12,000 electricity customers lost power over the weekend. Flights arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport were delayed an average of two hours Sunday.
