Exercise 4.13

Complete this exercise offline and then either e-mail or hand the exercise in to your instructor.

Write a summary lead based on the following information, which is from a story in The New York Times.
Mark Dickson is 24 years old.
He is a student at Stockton State College in New Jersey and had just started working as a disc jockey at a small radio station.
He was shot early today by a man who tried to rob him.
The station is in Vineland, N.J.
     Police described the shooting.
They said that Dickson was playing a record at about 1 a.m. on WKQV-FM, a rock 'n' roll station, when he heard a knock at the station door.
When he stepped away from his control panel
to answer it, he encountered a man holding what appeared to be a revolver.
     The assailant demanded money.
Dickson gave him $2 but refused to give up his wallet.
The man fired once, wounding Dickson in the left arm.
He fled, leaving the $2 behind.
Dickson was reported in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Bridgeton Hospital, where he was scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the bullet.
